The verdict

All prices below are per seat per month, billed annually, for a 10-person team, in USD.

  • Pick ClickUp Core ($90/month) if cost is your main constraint and you can live without dashboards and timeline view (Core lists both as “Trial” only). It’s the only one of the three that bills per member with no seat buckets, so a headcount of 11, 12 or 13 costs exactly that.
  • Pick Asana Starter ($109.90/month) if clients or contractors will work inside your projects. Asana’s pricing page says Starter includes “Unlimited free guests,” and it is the only one of the three whose monthly-billing price we could verify ($13.49 per seat), so you can avoid a 12-month commitment.
  • Pick monday.com Standard ($120/month) if your team will stay at exactly 10 (or 15, 20) people and you have few outside guests. Skip monday.com Basic for a team that needs automations, timelines or guests: its pricing page lists none of those until Standard.
  • Pick ClickUp Free Forever if your budget is $0. It’s the only free plan of the three that allows more than 2 members, but storage is capped at 60 MB.

The cost table: 10 users, list prices

PlanPer seat (billing)10 seats, monthlyYear 1

ClickUp Core$9 (billed yearly)$90$1,080
ClickUp Business$17 (billed yearly)$170$2,040
monday.com Basic$9 (billed annually)$90$1,080
monday.com Standard$12 (billed annually)$120$1,440
monday.com Pro$19 (billed annually)$190$2,280
Asana Starter$10.99 (billed annually)$109.90$1,318.80
Asana Starter$13.49 (billed monthly)$134.90$1,618.80
Asana Advanced$24.99 (billed annually)$249.90$2,998.80
Asana Advanced$30.49 (billed monthly)$304.90$3,658.80

monday.com Free and Asana Personal stop at 2 seats, so they can’t cover 10 people. Enterprise tiers on all three are quote-only. ClickUp MAX ($100 per user, billed yearly) is out of scope for most 10-person teams.

Monthly billing for ClickUp and monday.com: unverified. Both pages have a Monthly toggle, but on Nov 4 and Nov 5, 2026 our page reader captured only the yearly-billed figures. monday.com says yearly billing is an “18% discount” over monthly; ClickUp says “Save up to 33% with yearly.” We haven’t printed a monthly figure for either. Flip the toggle yourself before you buy.

The cheapest plans aren’t equivalent

The $90 “tie” between ClickUp Core and monday.com Basic compares different products. Per each vendor’s pricing page:

ClickUp Coremonday.com BasicAsana Starter
Automations1,000 per monthNone listed (Standard: 250 actions/month)“Unlimited automations”
Timeline/GanttGantt yes; timeline view trial onlyNone listed (from Standard)Timeline and Gantt views
DashboardsTrial onlyNot listedIncluded
Outside collaboratorsPermission-controlled and view-only guestsRead-only “unlimited free viewers” only“Unlimited free guests”

If you need automations, timelines and guests, the fair comparison at 10 seats is ClickUp Core $90 vs Asana Starter $109.90 vs monday.com Standard $120, all billed annually. ClickUp’s own page lists Core automations as both “1K Automations / mo” and “1,000 actions / workspace / month”; confirm which applies.

Seat buckets: what an 11th hire costs

monday.com sells “per group of seats and not per seat.” Its help center says plans “start at a minimum of 3 seats, and then ascend in multiples of 5.” An 11-person team pays for 15 seats:

  • Standard, 11 people: $12 × 15 = $180/month billed annually ($2,160/year), not $132.

Asana “offers 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-seat plans; increments of 5 up to 30 users,” then increments of 10 up to 100. If internal users exceed your plan size, you’re charged “for the seat bucket that corresponds to the actual number of internal users.”

  • Starter, 11 people: $10.99 × 15 = $164.85/month billed annually ($1,978.20/year).

ClickUp lists no seat minimum or bucket, but “you’ll need to upgrade your entire Workspace, which means all members.” 11 people on Core: $9 × 11 = $99/month billed yearly.

Guests: who pays for clients and contractors

  • Asana: Starter includes “Unlimited free guests”; Advanced lists “Everything in Starter,” so it inherits them.
  • monday.com: “Guests are available on Standard plan and above.” On Standard, “every 4 guests count as 1 billed seat,” and if members plus guest-seats exceed your bucket, “your account will be automatically upgraded to the next seat tier.” Pro and Enterprise allow “an unlimited number of guests.”
  • ClickUp: its help center lists Core with 5 permission-controlled guest seats plus 2 per member, and Business and above with 10 plus 5 per member. Once the allowance is used up, “a paid member seat is added.” View-only guests are unlimited on paid plans.

Example: 10 members + 8 client guests, billed annually

  • Asana Starter: stays $109.90/month.
  • monday.com Standard: 8 ÷ 4 = 2 billed seats → 12 → auto-upgraded to the 15-seat tier: $12 × 15 = $180/month.
  • monday.com Pro: unlimited guests, stays $190/month. Pro becomes only $10/month more than Standard here, and adds time tracking and private boards.
  • ClickUp Core: 8 guests fit inside the guest allowance above, so it stays $90/month.

Before you pay

  1. Annual lock-in and refunds. monday.com refunds part of a yearly plan only if you cancel within 30 days of purchase, and gives no refunds for downgrades after that. ClickUp offers a full refund within 30 days of a new customer’s first paid plan. Asana’s FAQ says “We do not offer refunds,” and its yearly saving is “up to 18%.” If your headcount is uncertain, Asana’s monthly price is the only month-to-month option we could verify.
  2. ClickUp’s “Regular price” strike-throughs ($12 Core, $25 Business, $120 MAX) have no explanation or end date. They may be the monthly-billing rate or a promotional comparison; we couldn’t tell. Budget as if the yearly price could rise at renewal.
  3. monday.com’s “Special monthly discount.” At 10 seats the page adds AI credits ($10 on Basic, $20 Standard, $30 Pro) and subtracts an equal discount, which is why Standard shows $140 struck through to $120 and Pro $220 to $190. No end date is given.
  4. AI add-ons aren’t in the table. ClickUp sells extra AI Credits at $10 per 10K. Asana charges $0.50 per AI request prepaid, or $0.60 per request on its pay-as-you-go option, which its pricing page also lists at $5.99 per user per month billed annually.
  5. Location and tax. monday.com says prices exclude tax and depend on your billing country. We read all three pages as a US visitor; outside the US, check your local price.
  6. Setup time. None of the three pricing pages states how long setup or migration takes. Plan your own time to rebuild projects and templates, and use the free plan or trial to do it before you prepay a year.
